wow i think my supermarket is finally catching on.. its only a small one but before st pats day they got irish bacon in (back bacon) yippee and i bought a tonn in case it was a one off but they've kept it comming then the other day much to my delight as i was running low on all the tins of beans i could get in my suitcase on my last trip home, i spotted henz baked beans on the top shelf between those (my opinion) horrid over sweet things they call beans. ho boy a bought almost all of them even though they were $1.65 a tin. then the next time i saw in the freezer there
irish sausage, blimey i thought they must watch me buy all this stuff and keep getting it in. so im gonna have a word with the manager to make sure he tries to keep this stuff in stock.
now anyone who lives buy me in new hampshire (near nashua) i will let you know where it is you can get these delicasies so let me know and we will fight to keep them together.
also why is it that the henz who are american do not sell there items here
ie beans & soup? anyone know?
regards mel
So which supermarket chain is this?

A few around have had Irish back bacon in the past around St Paddys but seem to have discontinued.
Never seen UK/Irish sausage, though I don't like them anyway so never wanted to buy them.

Hienz do beans here.
They are not the same as UK beans, the closest is the vegetarian ones, but they are much softer and the sauce is thicker. The rest are like every other brand of American beans.
no no these are the real ones (they also have the vegitarian ones) real baked beanz yum iv had them every day lol phew for the last week.
the irish sausage are very nice not fatty at all. im not into spicy american ones, but i don't mind the mild italian. i also make my own so i know whats in them.
the super market is market basket in hudson
http//www.marketbasket.com/index.htm

I found this one in NJ that seems to have some Brit stuff. Is this the one? They do mail order.
There is a small supermarket chain in New England called "Market Basket" - I think that's what she means.

I bought Irish back bacon in Stop and Shop and found it tasteless and watery. I only realised just how bad it was during my recent trip home when I tasted real bacon again.
Market Basket.
a super market....called market basket and yes its in new hampshire!!!!!
ok now thats clear, they do back bacon and real henz beans and irish bangers.
But it's not clear! The one I found was in New Jersey (NJ), not New Hampshire and I was asking if it's the same chain?

I need to know! D

(Like KG says, not all back bacon you find is good!)
No it is not the same chain. This is the supermarket logo:

The place you found in NJ looks much classier! ;)
ah! interesting! I wonder if they too have a website? thanks.
I have found that if I buy the standard american "pork with beans" then as long as I drain out all the watery juice first and of course fish out that nasty floating piece of white fat (what on earth is that all about anyway?) then the beans taste pretty much the same as heinz.

I've had no luck finding decent bacon here yet though... canadian bacon is as close as I can get.
We buy 'Hanover' pork and beans from WalMart, they are cheapo beans at 5/$2, take the fat out and they taste better than Hienz. Have just had visitors over from the UK for the past 4 weeks and they all loved them and they are all hienz-ites at home.

Bob evans sausage at the supermarket arnt all that bad and for bacon we substitute the spiral sliced ham that you buy at xmas. I portion it and then freeze it. Not bacon but we can pretend that we are rich and are eating Gammon-ham butties instead )
Back bacon, rings a bell, distantly, ah yes, haven't seen any since I got here, 13 years, please post warnings, am going to the kitchen now to cry and see if there's a substitute.

Back bacon, bacon and rind and not just fat, back bacon,, mmmmmmmm!
Myasibe just eat a can of those Hanover beans you had mentioned and they do taste just like Heinz D
They dont sell them at our local walmart anymore cry cry
