hi there, just need to ask a quick question regarding an aos (i got married on a visa waiver this monday).

i believe i have to go to the denver ins office to pick up forms. i've heard that it's the 'brown envelope' that i need.

what i need to know is will this envelope contain all the forms that i need, or will i have to ask for the separate forms? i know that i need the i-485 (aos), i-765 (ead), i-131 (advance parole) and i-693 (medical exam forms) - will i get all of these forms automatically?

i just don't want to delay anything at this point as i would love to go back home to visit my family very soon.

advice would be fantastic. i know a few things, but i just need a starting pointer to get me going.
There's more forms than that.

I think I-134 is the affadavit of support. You'll definitely need that. I think they also want biographic information which is on a G-something or other form.

I'm sure someone else can give you the full list - I recall the INS only giving me about 60% of what I needed and an Immigration lawyer told me the full list but it's filed at home somewhere.
thank you very much pilgrim - i'll add those to my list of forms to collect.

if anyone else can add to this list then i'd be really grateful. i'm due to go there this week.
Well this isn't my list but it looks a lot like it. It was at this website which looked like a decent source of information.

I-485 - Adjustment of Status
A photocopy of the birth certificate
A photocopy of the marriage certificate
Two ADIT photos
A $50 check for fingerprinting
A $255.00 check for the Adjustment of Status age 14 and over and $160 under age 14. (Fees changed as of 02/27/03)
G-325A Biographic Info
A photocopy of both sides of the I-94
A photocopy of the K-1 Notice of Approval
I-864 (Affidavit of Support to be completed by the U.S. citizen)
• last three years tax returns
• notarized
• proof of employment (two recent pay stubs)

I-765 - Application for Employment Authorization - EAD
A $120 check (Fees changed as of 02/27/03)
Two ADIT Pics
Photocopy of both sides of I-94
Signed signature card

I-131 - Application for Advance Parole
Explanation of why require Advance Parole - on a separate sheet of paper:

"I am applying for Advance Parole in order to be able to visit my family in Country X. In particular my parents are both elderly and I would like to be able to visit at short notice if either of them were to be become dangerously ill."
A $80 check
Photocopy of both sides of the I-94
Photocopy of visa
Two ADIT photos
Note: For same-day AOS processing, be prepared to bring all the originals of marriage license, birth certificate, etc. Photocopies are not enough. Beginning in mid 1999, people who submitted AOS application packages in person at the Detroit and Dallas offices had adjustment interviews the same day, and were given the I-551 stamp in the passport
that's fantastic!! thank you so much. i owe you a drink Wink
If you can spare the money, do yourself a favour and get an immigration attorney to handle all the paper work for you. They even had a runner wait in line for 6 hours to deliver the paperwork by hand for me, I paid $10 an hour, best money I ever spent. Whole process cost me $700, I know its a lot but it saved me a lot of time and worry.

Providing you have already submitted your medical.
I dropped that blob and had to have it submitted within 30 days of my interview.
then I got the I-551 stamp in me passport.

Go and get the paxckage they use themselves just in case they have some local checklists to fill out.

However, you can alos get the forms, some of which are filliable, from the BICS website at this link.

Hi there,

Quick question: I'm on a WVP myself and was wondering how you got on with the immigration procedures, after the marriage as I know USCIS prefer tourist to take the K1 Fiance(e) route, as opposed to getting wed on a non-immigrant visa.

Did you experience any problems or were you made to wait longer for interviews and replies etc.

Is it possible to get deported for taking this route?

Thanks...
