Do we have anyone in the Olympics? Once in a while, we have something amazing like Torvill and Dean. I heard we had a good skier, but havent heard any mention of her yet.

We also had Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards one year. Probably set back the British Winter Olympics team by a few years.

Eddie was a bit of an embarrasment wasn't he, but you still have to admire him for his guts. I remember he was on the Johnny Carson show shortly after. When he walked on Burt Reynolds, shook his hand & said "I hear you're supposed to be a ski jumper" Eddie the Eagle came straight back with "And I hear you're supposed to be an actor". I can remember thinking nice one Eddie. It was funny & shut Burt Reynolds up.

lol That's funny jan. I think my comment came over a bit hyper-critical. I certainly admire him for having the guts to get out there and compete.
That must have been around 1988 when he was in the team because one of my Army instructors would give us an update on his (lack of) progress each day.
