I applied for renewal of my Green Card in May and believe it or not, it's back already. Does that mean that I'm a highly desirable alien??? lol However, they made my sex male instead of female so I'm going to have to go through everything all over again.
So, everyone out there waiting, there is hope.

As long as you don't mind going through gender reassignment!
I've always wanted to try something new!!!
Shall we call you Jonah, or will you be adopting an entirely different name? Something manly like Ferdinand or Yves? Or Butch?
Butch Norfolkbroad ...I like it, it has a sort of ring to it lol
Oh, definitely the manly approach. Butch does sound kind of cool but personally I've always rather fancied myself as a Percival.
By the way, the card is now a whitish colour instead of pink - still not green. And just a thought, maybe my photo looks like a man. Not saying much for me, does it.

I'm still waiting for mine.
I called them a few weeks ago and they said the wait is now 13 months. My punch hole expires at the end of this month and I was told to call them back if it hasn't arrived by then and they will tell me to go back to the local office for another punch hole. -?
7 days after mine expires I'm supposed to be going to Nova Scotia so I am hoping there isn't going to be any complications.
I'm still hoping for the card even though the local office wasn't any hassle last time.
Isn't it odd how much variation there is on processing?
I renewed mine a month before expiration last October.
I still have not received my renewal, although the cheque has and was cashed on November1 last year.
I checked a website that calculates processing times for each state, and in CA they're only up to processing renewals for 7/23/02!!
So I guess I'll be tripping over the hill to San Jose sometime in October for a new hole punch.
Not that it's a big deal, as I do not need it for employment (self employed) nor do I have any unemployment to claim etc, nor are we planning to go out of country for a whiles anyways...
Oh well.
It's not like it's a big deal, it's once every 10 years so doowhop.
Now, if we wanna talk a PIA's, then there's the DMV!

Okay, you can all have the last laugh now. I called the INS (or whatever they're called now) today and was told that I have to go to the Denver office (not the satelite office where only about 10 people show up every day) to get a replacement green card, i.e. fill out all the paperwork again, get new photos, etc. etc. They said that I probably filled out the incorrect information on the I-90, however there's no little box to put in male or female. Apparently, if it's my fault I'll have to pay the fee all over again.
Now, besides having to drive all the way up to Denver again, waiting for hours just to be seen, I'll have to fight not to pay their ****** fee again. Then it'll probably be a year's wait for me to get the replacement.
Problem is that we're all at their mercy. I'm not a happy camper at the moment............. evil
They've got to charge massive fees to cover thier massive burocracy.....the little gits.
Hmm... had my card extended last Sept. It's good through August so... looks like I will have to stretch out the flexible friend even longer!! lol 8) oops wink
As my extension on my green card expires tomorrow, I have been told today by BCIS to take my card, passport and reciept to the local office and have them do another extension. x
I will be doing that in the morning, I just hope it's as easy at it was a year ago. -?
Don't worry wendl - I pulled off an even greater feat a couple of months ago when I needed to do that and didn't even take my passport (doh!) oops
Ok so I'm back from the local office and it couldn't have taken less time.
I signed in at 1120am and out at 1124am. D
My number was called as soon as I'd taken a ticket, didn't even get to taking a seat. o
The nice lady spent a few minutes checking her computer and then put a stamp in the passport, wrote some info on it and gave me everything back. D
They didn't do anything with the card.
She checked the latest dates they had been sent and told me I should have the card in about a month but if i hadn't got it with 3 or 4 to come back and see her. -?

I guess they're trained to say that Wendl... I was told almost the same thing...
I hope you do, but realistically they're an average of a year behind...
I still haven't got mine, and like I said it's no biggie as we don't plan on going to Spain until next year, but I'm gonna take a trip to the San Jose CSC to get it sorted or another hole punch..
:)
