So who else wears their team's football shirt to work????
The great thing about working for a University is that there is hardly any dress code - well actually none. So, if there is a game on that day, I'll throw on the old Plymouth Argyle shirt and wear it into work. On days when it probably would be prudent not to wear it (meetings etc.), I'll throw on a sweatshirt with the club's logo on instead.
Just wondered if anyone else did that.
I've seen Americans wearing Middlesbrough and Manchester United shirts here on campus. Kind of annoying but there you go.
In the summer, I'll wear my England shirt to work for the World Cup!
Well we have casual Friday's - and once I came in with a Liverpool shirt but chickened out on the way to the door and went back to put a polo shirt on. I don't have any other clothes with the club logo but I do have the last England shirt - being white it looks a bit smarter so I may try that sometime. Maybe I'll wear it tomorrow and see what reaction I get.
Middlesbrough shirts? Why the hell Middlesbrough?
we can't where I work. Well that's not completely true. If we're carrying passengers on the coaches then we have to be in uniform, but if we're empty then we can wear pretty much anything, and on multi-day trips the rules are more relaxed, so I always have a shirt or two in my suitcase for those.
What is your line of work Graham?
Beng - no idea on the Middlesbrough shirt - I just saw a latino student wearing it. Should have asked him I guess but I was just too stunned at the time.
I saw some guy checking out my England scarf today that I've been wearing during this cold spell.
Okay, so here I am in an England shirt - no comments yet but it's still early. I'll keep you updated (I bet no-one says anything).
As far as scousers profession - click on his profile icon. wink
Wearing my Argyle shirt today, in the hopes that it brings us luck tomorrow and we go 10 points clear at the top of Divison 3.
Do you have the latest England shirt Beng? I got mine just before Christmas from Kitbag and had them put numbers (9) and my name on it. Bit poseur to wear to work but I probably will do eventually. Anyway, it's a really nice shirt - I like the date thing on it so you can see when you'll have to fork out another $90 for a new one!
Unfortunately not - I got the shirt we wore for Euro 2000 for half price just after the event. I would like the new shirt - I've always said we should incorporate more red in our colours and it finally looks like England are making a distinction from Britain. What is the date thing you are talking about?
Oh - and so far I have had "nice shirt" from my manager but that's it.
The latest shirt is really nice. Anyway, it has this label on it that says "Kick-off St. George's Day 2001" and "Full Time - St. George's Day 2003" so you know how long it will be the official shirt for. A neat idea but couldn't see Manchester United adopting it. They'd lose millions the number of kits they have!
So far I have had lots of puzzled looks and one guy asked which city the Evening Herald (shirt sponsors) is for - so lots of talk about newspapers and none about football. Oh well - I will try again next week.

I drive coaches for a charter company. That means that we are booked in advance for a set amount of time, usually for tours or school day-trips - we don't do fare paying passenger stuff like Greyhound (or National Express back home). The company I work for (Martz) has (I think) 7 depots in the Eastern US between Pennsylvannia and Florida - including 3 here in Virginia, the one in Richmond is also known locally as Tourtime. Is that enough info?
I am forever wearing my bright yellow 1970 brazil shirt.
England shirt comes out for England game days, Donny Rovers shirt on occasion, but my new avorite is a polo shirt i bought from burtons at christmas back in England. Navy blue, with ENGLAND across the front in white and 5 on one sleve and the other sleve there is a 1 (england v Germany)
My mum and dad got me an england rugby shirt for christmas which is quite nice to wear.
Chris
I never got to see that England-Germany game. At one point, Setanta were doing all their games on Pay Per View but this seemed to stop about 8 months ago.
Hope they put it on again for the World Cup, as ESPN are bound to just show US games.
setanta still do them, although they are not carried on regular PPV
luckily living in a big city, I go to my local English Pub, but sadly for the Germany game, and Greece game they opened, but charge $20 per person!!!
Well I thought the same as buying at home, i can have beer and be around other expats.
worth everything i paid, especiall the 5-1 result
