We filed at St. Louis INS office on August 1st for AOS from visa-waiver. Everything was fine they said. Fair enough. A couple we know in EXACTLY the same situation filed on November 6th. They got the fingerprint appointment letter today! I am so upset because we filed months before and yet they are in before us? How is that FAIR? Someone please explain this to me. ~( Is there anything I can do?

Sometimes it's not a case of 'when you apply' as it could be 'who applied for you'. I know people who've been leapfrogged by numerous folk who've got the right lawyer. Are you applying for this yourself or is it through the company?
I was duped by of my previous company HR dept who had a 'secret' policy of sitting on applications to stop you from looking around once you get your greenie. Two and a half yrs later I found out they hadn't even applied, even though they kept sending me forms to fill in.
If it's being done by a third party ask to talk directly to the attorney they're using and hound them. If you're doing it yourself, you'll have to sit back and wait.
I now have my own attorney and although he's not cheap, he has the contacts and things have flown through. I guess it depends how desperate you are for things to come through!
Good luck!
Well, we came across en masse with my husband's company and are all being "done" by the same person, but some are getting processed faster than others. we've been told "that's just the way it is" I just keep nagging.
You can try contacting your local Democratic/ Republican committee office (the number should be in your phone book). They can intercede on your behalf and make enquires directly to the immigration office handling your case. These federal offices usually respond a lot faster when they get requests from other official organisations. In my situation, my AOS was held up due to internal problems at my local INS office. After my Democratic committee office sent them a letter it took less that six months for me to get my green card.
Hope this helps.
