Hi all,

just wondered if any of you changed your name on the citizenship application. I am considering using my maiden name again, but read somewhere that changing your name can make the naturalization process longer? Anyone with experience of this?

Mel
Dunno, but why not wait and change your name afterwards to be on the safe side? Or did you want your new name on the certificate or whatever you get?
just enter the name you want to be known by after Naturalization, in the space provided on the N400, its that simple

Hello simonbland, are you new to the board ? I havn't seen your name before if so WELCOME, I was asked at the time of my interview if I wished to change my name..........becoming a yank are you Mel?
congratulations, and I mean that whole-heartedly  ............june

I know how to do it i.e fill in the name I want to be called on my application, but I heard it can make things longer. My question was has anyone on the board changed their name this way? I heard you have to go to a specific type of swearing in ceremony or something, which you may have to wait longer to get an appointment for. Again, anyone actually gone through this?
