The first was Beautiful Creatures, with Rachel Weisz(sp) from the Mummy, only this movie is set in Glasgow and she's blonde.
The second, Kolya, set in what was Czechoslavia, whilst the Russians were there and during their downfall. A touching tale of an older man, a ladies man, musician who gets lumbered with a young boy.
A nice change to all the"action movie, no plot" stuff thats out at the moment. smile
2 Good movies neither of them american .
Dancer in the dark.2000 Lars von Trier (danish )
The piano teacher.2001 Micheal Haneke (french )
If you liked 'Breaking the waves' you will like 'dancer in the dark 'even better .

Kolya is a wonderful movie. It was great to see a film with a child at the centre that wasn't some little American brat. It says a lot about Czechoslavakia under Communism too (and how much they hated the Russians).

I watched "Koyla" a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wasn't it a refreshing change from 'america saves the world - again ' movies?? lol
Koyla's currently running on either IFC or Sundance a lot at the moment...
My arthouse picks right now
Amelie
City of Lost Children
Cronos
and one for the lads - All Dat A** - not much plot and the dialogue isn't much either but the visual more than make up for it if you know what I mean eek
