This is for anyone who wonders how long it actually takes for the citizenship process if you are in the right place at the right time.
A friend of mine (an American citizen) was telling me a story about when he was stationed with the US Army out in Korea.
He met his wife, got married out in Korea, and soon after, was posted back to the USA. He and his new wife came back (she on a temporary visa as her green card was being processed). They lived on a base in the US for a short while and then he got another posting back to Korea - which presented a problem as his wife couldn't leave the country as she was waiting for her immigration procedings.
Upon receiving his orders, he went to his CO (commanding officer) who said that he should prepare to leave on the date specified and that the immigration would not be a problem. His report-to date was two weeks away.
Sure enough, his wife received her interview date the next day and had the interview, swearing in ceramony, and was issued with a US passport within a week!!
Obviously, this was due to this particular case being with the military, but I was still amazed that the U.S. govt can hustle if it wants too!!
