This may be a long post. I haven't been here in a long time so hi y'all!

I work for a foreign company in the US. I came over in September 2000. At the end of 2000 I started all the paperwork for the Greencard (attorney is employed for this by my company)

They seemed to have taken a while and eventually in October 2001 "Prevailing wage request filed with SESA". I was going through RIR (reduction in recruitment) because of the occupation I hold and the not too standard qualifications.

So eventually in December 2001 the RIR was filed with SESA. 26 Feb 2002 RIR was sent to the DOL. In December 2002 request for evidence was received (again) by the DOL. My job was advertised again and again nobody applied.

This was sent back to DOL on 13 Feb.

A status request was sent to DOL in May and the response was that there are 2000 RIR cases being adjudicated by the DOL and one person is looking after it. They said to chill and check back in 6 months, so November this year.

In November I will be one month into my last two years. In September 2005 my L1B will be finished and we will have to leave the US.

Any opinions on whether I am likely to get my Green card before then? How far into the process am I?

Just ranting and curious really to see what other people think.

Andy
Hi Andy.

I wouldn't be worrying unduly right now. You have plenty of time left on your visa but as far as I am aware once you have begun the green card process, ie, once your paperwork has been filed then they can't just chuck you out of the country because your visa has expired.

We are currently going down that route and our visa expires the end of September this year! Hopefully our forms will be filed in the next week or so but that's not something I have any control over. roll

Best of luck.
