Well after being here in the USA for almost 16 years, today I filed the paperwork to become a citizen smile Anyone know how long it takes in the New Jersey area? ???
I've got a friend here in town from Belize. She told me last week it took her 6 months from applying for citizenship to actually being sworn in as a citizen. This is here in Nebraska by the way. I've been questioning her as to what it involved as I've been in the States for over 13 yrs now, & should do something about it. Hope you get yours through just as quick.

Congratulations Britmom, I had to wait two years for my test and swearing in, but that was because I wanted it done close to home here in Santabarbara, rather than travel to Los Angeles, If you go to the library they will give you a book that has all the questions you may be asked, thats what I did.......good luck..........june
It took me about 9 months here in Florida to get naturalised, and the test was really quite easy. You can find the list of questions that they use on the Immigration Service website.Elsewhere on the various postings,l and a couple of other people listed the questions that we were asked at interview.I'm not sure if the pass mark is the same everywhere but here in FL,it's 7 out of 10 correct answers.Good luck !
Congrats Britmom! That's fantastic! It seems to take different amounts of times and different amount of answers in each state. The girl that went in front of me was only asked 3 questions, I was asked 10. Good luck though, the test isn't really hard!
Il have to check but i believe if you have been a resident for 15 years at the time of applying you dont have to take the test ....
