I just signed up as a new member. I'm originally an American, then I was an American expat in Britain, and now I'm a British expat in the USA! I lived in Britain for nine years during which time I became a British citizen.

I've been back in the U.S. for about a year and a half now. I was in London the whole time I was over there, and after so long I was getting fed up with much about London - the air pollution, the litter, the graffiti, the grey horror of roads like the North Circular, the transport situation, drunken louts spilling out of pubs and into town centres at closing time.

But there's also so much that I miss. One thing that I miss is the quality of the broadcast media. Over here, "journalists" interview politicians like they are celebrities rather than forcing them to answer hard questions. How I would love to see Jeremy Paxman interview George W. Bush! And while Britian has many crap horrible newspapers there are also some really good ones like the Guardian - we don't have anything like that here. I miss the non-religiosity of Britain. I miss the way of using understatement that people have there.

Of course over there, I missed a lot about the U.S. Mostly, things are easier here.

I guess with dual nationality, where ever I live I'm an expat of some sort.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this web site.
