From today's Mirror:
THE Kumars At No 42 is embarking on world domination. So far the spoof chat show has been snapped up by five foreign TV companies hoping to mimic its success.
However, the latest issue of Radio Times says all five have changed the format to suit their own cultural make-up. Australia's Seven network has just broadcast the antipodean version, called Greeks On The Roof.
In Germany the Kumars are a Turkish family, while in Israel they'll be Moroccan Jews and in the Netherlands they'll be replaced by a Surinamese clan.
And in the US, the show will be called The Ortegas and will substitute an Indian family for a family of Mexicans.
Why, oh why, oh why do the TV people here have to go and spoil a good thing? It makes me so mad!
It'll be interesting to see how they have revamped "Coupling" although I did see a trailer for it the other day and the script seems to have been adhered to. Time will tell.
