I've been here for almost 18 months and just had my visa upgraded to an H1b (hoorah) so am here for another 3 years at least. And although we all know that the Americans are lovely people...I'd love to find some Brits to hang out with! Or am I really the only Devon Bird here?!

lol
Hmmmmm Chicago eh?
Huge Ikea in Schaumberg, if I drop you a few bob will you send my misses one of their Bjorkelberg entertainment centers?

You're not alone -there are other Britnetters there ...and I'm only 4 hours away -we could do lunch! lol

Manc -they do online, you know. We're due for a trip to Schaumberg this summer. grin

the shipping cost more than the bloody thing itself.
Me and Mr UHaul have a trip planned

Hi Devon Bird,

I am in MN (which is a couple of states away), but I just wanted to ask "Are you a true Devon Bird?"

I once dated a girl from Devon and she was great. She had the most amazing... er... perhaps this isn't the time for me to be describing my ex-girlfriends finer qualities.

Hi! Depends what your "true" definition of a Devon Bird is. Although I don't have the Devon accent or walk around with a piece of straw hanging from my mouth, I probably do have the finer qualities of your ex...!
Hi Devonbird, sounds like you are downtown somewhere, which is a few miles from us dudes out in the burbs, but there does seem to be more then a few of us Blighty-missers out this way. Anyway, there are plenty of Brits downtown also, and places like the Red Lion or Sedgewicks (on Sedgewick) should prove that to you on a Saturday night.

Anyway, I have been here for 9 years, would be happy to give you some pointers - I love this town - what do they call it... Oh. yeh , CHICAGO!!!

Dogbreath? Did we date once?

:???:

Thanks for the pub recommendations: I've tried the Twisted Oak near Wrigley Field and the Elephant & Castle in the loop so must head out to the Red Lion next! DB

Devon Bird,

Nice to see someone else in Chicago. There are plenty of Brits here, I've met a few. I tend to be a regular at the Irish Oak, but Gingers Ale House is also a good hangout. Used to be my local. Sedgwicks is good for the footy and rugby, also shown by Gingers and OHagans. Let me know if you need any further pointers
