I went to see "The Italian Job" last night. It was actually better than I expected (I expected nothing so this isn't saying much) but the film studios could have and should have called it something different. Apart from a few characters with the same name, the cars being three Minis (not the original Minis) and there being some scenes in Italy (but not the car chase), that is all that is similar.

In fact, I think the thing I found to be most impressive is when Edward Nortons character turns on his big TV and the original "Italian Job" is playing.

Good movie for a rainy day... but ignore the title.
Still not going to see it though. The most memorable review I read said something like "Mark Wahlberg tries not to appear a foot shorter than everyone else in every scene."

Not going to bother seeing it. It doesn't have have Benny Hill, Michael Caine, Noel Coward or Robert Powell, no Quincy Jones soundtrack and it's set in LA. roll

VRB,
I had the same prior thoughts as you, and didn't want to see it, but we went. I loved it. I agree with quattromark, it was a lot better than expected, even if the critics tried to down- play it. What did yous guys think of Charlize Theron? WOW!
I went with Mrs quattromark and so I didn't notice Charlize Theron grin

the "the italian job" was a good movie, we went to see "the dancer upstairs"which was also very good, infact I liked it better, wonderful music and scenery, and a very handsome actor, don't know his name, never seen him before, definately worth seeing.........june.
for anyone who is interested, the original version is due to be released on DVD in the US on Oct 7th. I know Best Buy have it as a pre-order on their website for $14.99
It's on my Netflix list but I won't be too upset if it takes a month or two to make it to #1 in my list.
