Last nights UEFA cup was apparantly decided by UEFA new Silver Goal rule, having replaced the Golden goal. Am I alone in never having hear of this new rule ? How does it differ from what extra time used to be like before the Golden goal was introduced ?
No idea, never heard of it before but if you find out I want to know.
Ok, I understand this, and it does seem a little fairer than the golden goal.
Basically, you now get either one or two full fifteen minute periods of extra time.
If the scores are still level after the first fifteen minutes, then the whole second fifteen minutes are played, then going onto penalties if its still a tie.
However, if one team is leading after the first period of extra time, then the game ends there.
This is in contrast to the golden goal, when the game ends immediately once a gaol is scored in extra time. So now the team who goes behind in extra time gets a chance to get back into the game.
Oh, so that is why the second period was played out, because thats when the gaol was scored ?
Exactly, under the old golden goal, the game would have finished as soon as Porto scored.
Well! thats it then Im' going to settle for BRONZE cool lol
In the Celtic - Rangers game before the UEFA final the Celtic fans turned up at Ibrox with Lilo's and sunglasses to show the Rangers fans they were going to Seville and still in Europe. forget Hooliganism, that is a fantastic idea to get a point across.
how funny is that?
Did anyone watch the game and saw that streaker pretending to give a red card to the ref?
Excellent stuff grin
damn I always miss the streakers sad
