Bob, never been to Turkey, though heard it's a pretty nice place, don't wanna be nosey, but what you gonna do there? I didn't realise they were in the EU yet? can you blag a job out there?

We would like to buy a villa there and settle down. we will need to find work out there and need to dnow the legal implications.

I visited Turkey a few times when i was with BA ,and always had a good time there .
Dont know if id want to live there tourists sometimes get the wrong impression.

Bob, Can you afford to buy a place now and then move over once Turkey has joined the EU.

I'm pretty sure MurphyGirl lives there at the moment, but I think she's on a military base. Another expats site has a specific Europe Forum where you could ask -I did try a quick search and nothing came up for other people living there or considering moving.

I just moved from the Adana area to Germany a year ago. I lived there for 4 years. For what it's worth, it would probably be better to buy a villa while it's NOT in the EU.. it would be MUCH cheaper! It does depend, of course, where in Turkey you were looking to live.. If you are looking for nice weather and cheaper cost of living, stay in the southern/coastal areas.
