In Kroger this evening they were playing the "Our Tune" theme. That was the silliest radio I ever came across as a teen ("Our Tune", Simon Bates, Radio 1). Anyone else remember it? Did you love it, hate it or find it hysterical?
That was on Radio One? It was too sad, a bunch of old divorced people hooking up with their secondary school sweet hearts. Sad b*stards.
He got fired when they did the Radio One makeover.

Yup! No bloody wonder he was sacked, but still good for a laugh when skiving social studies.
Our tune was ace.
Made you feel really great about yourself when you were stuck on the M6 (usually by the RAC building) at around 1145 am.
"And our letter today comes from 'Fred' in Gloucester, whose wife had been telling him to kill young girls and bury them under the patio"
Never heard of it ,by the sounds of it i didnt miss much
I want to break down in tears every time I hear that tune.... cry
I thought it was on at 11am?
The tune is the love theme from "Romeo and Juliet"....."A time for us".
In case you were wondering.
Oh, and I loved it too! grin
Debs x smile

It'll always be "our tune" to me   Some of those people were walking disaster areas not to mention emotional minefields. Most of all I used to wonder what they were doing listening to Radio One when all the tunes were from the Radio Two playlist.
Preferred "Confessions" with Simon Mayo myself - tales of mice in chip shop deep fat fryers and nurses accidentally shaving patient's nipples off during pre-op - great stuff!
I think Bates' Our Tune was on at 11 am. I used to listen and think they were all made up as they sounded too soap-opera-ish to me. Only later did I find out that some people really have messed up lives like that sad

Ahhhhh, the taste of pure Brit-humour.
Confessions was funny, although it too ran too long. They just don't know when to stop.
Messing up your life or having it messed up for you is one thing, writing to Radio One about it for public broadcast and summing it up in a pop song is another thing entirely.
Just in case anybody wanted to know; the "Our Tune" music is actually the Love theme from Franco Zefirelli's 1968 film of 'Romeo and Juliet'.
OMG!
I used to listen to "Our Tune" when I was on maternity leave with my daughter Jenny.
She will be 19 on June 1st... grin
