Has anyone heard anything about this? I just saw it on the web. Leno will be doing the Today show and Couric the tonight show. Its seems extremely bizarre to me. Leno's show is excellent but if Couric hosts it I think I'll be switching over the watch Letterman. Its seems Jay's humour will be lost somewhere in the Today show and I don't think Couric has enough personality to carry the Tonight show. Has disaster written all over it.
Yes it does - no matter how unfunny I think Leno is Couric will give Letterman many many millions more viewers.

On a side note Couric and Matt Lowrer make me laugh every morning with their 8.15 interview with someone about a current news event. Every time without fail they ask the person a question loaded with "facts" and the person says "er...no thats not true.." and then Couric and Lowrer dodge it. Hilarious. Why does she get so much money anyway?
I think Ms Couric threatened to leave and got a huge payout for staying with Today. I can't see what the attraction is myself.

An FYI, it's supposed to happen on May 12th.

Another question, if you are into late night are you a Letterman or a Leno person?

I watch Letterman, given a choice. There's something of a schoolboy humour charm about him. Conan O'Brien seems a little too arrogant for my taste.

Dunno. She's not even that good. I mean shes good and professional and everything but I don't think shes more than an 'average' host...

Agreed - she doesnt do anything in particular - and she's too timid.

I personally watch Letterman and O'brien depending on their guests. Never liked Leno.
I prefer to watch Leno. I think his monologue is funnier. Then it depends on what other stuff there is and who the guests are. So I switch between the two depending on the funny bits and guests. That is when I don't fall asleep first.
Letterman,have never liked leno
Is Leno the one with the gi-normous chin?

Indeed. He could crack nuts with it.

I read somewhere that this switch is for one day only. Phew. Still think I'll be tuning into Letterman that night.
I like Katie Couric but I think she and Matt Lauer are best suited to the fluffy stuff - neither of them are convincing in serious interviews. I think she will do well.

I can't stand Letterman (but I like the way he flicks his cards) and Leno's not much better. I have never watched either show all the way through, although they have often been on while I am on the computer.
