How would YOU do on that programme? Would you survive more than two days as a scullery maid? What do you think of the butler? Would you fancy being a footman?

Would you be able to cope with the rigours of etiquette in a society where everyone has their place - literally?

I enjoyed part 1 last night and looking forward to part 2 smile

I watched that too last night - thought it was excellent. Those scullery maids had to put up with a lot of s**t. Whats funny is that nowadays we realise that there's nothing special about the 'Lord of the Manor' other than he has the cash. Should be interesting tonight when the servants rebel...

Is part 2 on tonight?
It is on our(GA) PBS station.
I had to admire the butler - he really fits the part and really seems to understand how things should be done. Did you notice the tears on his face when he expressed disappointment in the first footman?

He really has his work cut out and the young people don't have a clue.
If it's accurate, the Lord of the Manor should be getting off with the scullery maid anytime now.....
I think the Scullery Maid gets off with the Second Footman tonight....the whole thing makes me want to watch Gosford Park again...

This series is fab! I know I would never have survived in that world. As for the "Master" of the house, what a plonker!

I think they should have an upstairs downstairs switcharoo for the last four weeks and then we'll see how much M'Lord enjoys living the Edwardian way lol
We watched this last night and started tonight, but it's completely ruined by those moaning minnies who will not role-play properly and are determined to change history by applying modern working practices roll We are now watching Robot Wars (British version) instead grin

I know what you mean and I was irritated by that to start with but now I'm totally into it. Infact I find watching the way the younger servants are struggling to cope with the unfairness of the system adds to it. I thought it was really touching when the old dear who used to work there came to visit. They all had so much respect for her because they knew it had been real for her.

I thought the youngest master was going to be utterly obnoxious but its fascinating to see how he has become completely cheesed off with his "toff" parents and lives downstairs as much as possible. I would imagine this is much as it would have been for children of his age from the "upstairs"

The butler is just the dearest, dearest man, how he has survived in life I can not imagine because he takes things so to heart. He is a lovely man.

The chef is brill, what a character, where did they find him!

Can't wait for tomorrow nights episodes - not that I'm addicted or anything.

Oh and didn't you just know as soon as they said the new scullery maid was a farmers daughter that she would be able to get on with the work unlike the two namby pampy spoil brats before her. Well at least until she started being rude with Kenny the Hall Boy

lol lol lol I've just been watching some of the video clips on the PBS website. My faves so far are Jonty bemoaning the fact that when its all over the others get to go home to their families while he still has to live with his!

I also enjoyed Kenny planning how to do away with Lord and Master, Sir Plonker. Of course that is assuming that Becky doesn't beat him to it after the tea pouring incident.

Oh and Antonia and Rob snogging on camera by mistake was fun.

My name is Deborah and I am a Manor House Addict! lol
