Every region seems to have a food that it specialises in. I was wondering what yours is.

As I'm in Buffalo I have to mention Buffalo Wings. Truly a work of genius - and not the imitation pish that seems to crop up outside of Western New york but the real thing.Mmmm.
Of course there is Friday fish Fry (fish and chips to us) which is hugely popular. The other main ones here are Chilli (which is always good), pizza with white sauce (so no tomato but olive oil based), and beef on weck (personally cant stand the stuff).

And it wouldnt be WNY without donuts - every body eats them - Tim Hortons is the main chain around here but realy you can buy good donuts anywhere. But even tho there is such a great selection they seem to have missed the two obvious ones - chocolate filled chocolate (anyone who's eaten a Spar donut knows what i mean) and hilariously they dont do jam-filled.
Grits, Boiled Peanuts and ANYthing fried. I haven't been here long enough to appreciate these fine delicacies of Georgia cuisine...roll
I cant say I'm jealous. lol Boiled peanuts? Wtf?

And I forgot to mention Calzones too.
...and of course on St. Patricks day its GREEN grits...
Boiled peanuts are a cross between baked beans and paper mache. They taste like the latter....
Mmmmmmm. ???
As long as you're into seafood or Barbecue, you're fine...Do you have funnel cake? I'm not sure if thats a local thing or a national thing. Now, thats GOOD...
Yeah we have that - and fried dough. Tasty stuff. And for some reason every single fast food place in the entire country have opened up about 2 miles from my house - anything from Popeye's to Andersons to Manhatten Bagel.
All you can eat buffet? roll
Up here in Maine it is of course lobster, boiled is best, but there's baked, stuffed, grilled, even in a bun from McDonalds, almost anyway you can think of.
The other big thing around New England is the clam bake.
Done right you dig a big hole in the beach, throw in some rocks and firewood or charcoal, once the fire's settled to a good glow you put in a grate, throw on some seaweed and fill it up with clams, mussles, lobster, potatoes, corn on the cob, cover with more seaweed and often a piece of wood to keep the sand out of the food, then you fill in the hole and let it all cook for a while. Once it's had time to cook you dig it all back out and enjoy.

Other things would be blueberries and maple syrup.
I'll put a word in for Vermont as I've not seen anyone on here from there. They are big on dairy with a lot of specialty cheeses, mostly small farms and a lot of them organic.
Cherries, apparently. And some suspect white fish from the lakes. Often served together. wink
Hey Bungle, don't forget the New York cheesecake. Mmmmmmm-mmmmmm
Boston's is the Clam Chowder, but I refuse to try it, cos it's clams, and cos it stinks !!!!!
Don't forget Boston Creme Pie.... much better than clam chowdah!
And 'Boston Butts', or is that a condition you get if you eat too much Creme Pie?
