Has anybody else heard about this? Basically, the NZRFU want to register the All Blacks name as a trademark, but Neath RFC in sunny Wales say they have been called the All Blacks for 20 odd years longer and they don't think the Kiwis should be able to trademark the name.

Now, I'm all for history and so on, but please. Neath want to have the name? I say they play off for it. If you're a sports fan and somebody mentions the All Blacks, I don't think many of you would think Neath first. Ridiculous. Let the Kiwis have it.

Nah - I see what you are saying but its a trade issue and not an issue of tradition.

Perhaps Neath will grant the NZ lot a license to use it, for a royalty or something wink That's what I would do if I had the right to a name that predated someone bigger by 20 years.....
Will Neath RFC even exist next season if the proposed merger of clubs in Wales goes ahead. Aren't they joing forces with either Swansea or Bridgend ??
I don't think it's that Neath want to trademark the name, but they don't want to have the Kiwis telling them when and how they can use it seeing as it was their name in the first place. And quite right too. I hope they stick to their guns and make the Kiwis go for "The New Zealand All Blacks" or something in they want to trademark their name.
Well, since both countries' human population are outnumbered by sheep, they should both be called the "fluffy whites".
They might have baa baa black sheep.....
