Now I know if I was in the UK my choice of a cut would be a topside of beef but after searching here for a nice bit of beef over the weekend....no jokes... (with much disapointment I might add smile
London broil is similar to topside/silverside. smile I find london broil is a good all rounder (you can marinade it, cut it up in a stew, bbq it) and you can generally find it on offer too.
Hope this helps.
I like Prime Rib the best, but it is very expensive.
I tend to have very little beef here because I find it very tasteless - whether it's due to growth hormones or because they aren't well hung, I don't know.
Well hung razz (sorry Ameriscot but I couldn't help myself please forgive me wink )

Hmmm, I guess my sense of humour does not fully transcend hyperspace.
It must be the Scottish accent...? cool
P.S. Is that 12/7 as in 12th July or 7th December?

July
I buy top round, eye round or bottom round, whichever looks best on the day. It roasts up beautifully or slowly braises in the crock-pot. Any left overs go to making potted beef or rissoles. (ar$eholes as we used to call them! eek )
Debs x smile
My favourite cut is the Strip Steak. Some call it a New York Strip, but sensible people call it a Kansas City Strip.
That is the best. Especially slathered in KC masterpiece with a few beers to wash it down... smile
Funny - yesterday I made myself a big Sunday lunch. Was just in the mood for a roast and roast beef was the cheapest - something like $5 for a reasonably sized bottom round.
Anyway, it was so good I think I'll invite some friends round next weekend to see if they enjoy it too. Could be the beginning of a new, old tradition smile

Great, Pilgrim!
Sunday lunch is something we really miss about the UK. We would have Sunday Lunch every week - whether as hosts or guests. When people fuss about Thanksgiving here, I just think WTF - it's what we do all the time.
We love a good roast, especially when we have guests, but Sunday is most inconvenient so it's rarely a Sunday dinner. Tonight (Mon) it's roast chicken with all the trimmings. grin
Can't remember what beef joints I buy, I think it's pretty much the same as Debs. We use the same cuts for everything -roasts, casseroles, stir frys, pasta dishes .....
