and how come Oxford and Cambridge always get to the final?
I think the University of Hull or someone else should get a crack at it.

Kind of.
They decided to move it so it wouldn't clash with the Grand National, which is on Saturday.
Don't forget that its still illegal in most states to have a flutter using Ladbrokes dot com!

I miss the boat race .When i lived in putney it was a must to walk down to the bridge and watch the race then go and swallow a few lagers with friends back at the house .

Definitely illegal. I think it even said so on their website, but it was a year ago that I was looking lol

But they've clashed before and there's been no problem, and after all the beeb does have two channels. I'm sure they can sacrifice the usual bbc 2 sat afternoon black and white "classic" film. Now if only Liverpool Poly had their chance....they'd have probably nicked the opposition's oars to ensure a win.

So how close was it, never saw it, but heard the National was 12 lengths, not bad ods either first was 16-1 and second was 40-1

It was a photo finish. A matter of inches or so. I watched online at the BBC website. Cambridge looked like they were walking it, then Oxford came back in the final 3rd of the race. Never been excited by a boat race, but this time it was excellent.

I liked that one where the boat took on water and sank.
Remember this one?
"Our local newspaper showed a great picture after a boat race some years ago when oxford had a Sue Brown as their cox - they threw her in the river.
....and the caption read....
"a jubilant oxford crew dipping their cox in the river after winning the race""
