I would love a recipe that a bad cook like me could follow roll
Also one that doesn't require any fancy equipment like breadmakers or mixers as my kitchen is very basic sad

I took Beest to a weight-training and power-yoga class on Saturday. I think he has hot cross buns. (Well he was certainly hot and cross and that's one of the many parts he's complaining about two days later...)

Just made some to Gary Rhodes recipe last night, and they came out all right.
Couldn't be arsed to do the crosses though, and don't have a piping bag in any case, so they're hot happy buns wink

Hot Non-Denominational And Not Religious At All Buns just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?

OK, here it is.....Warm one cup of milk, put this into a electric mixer fitted with a dough hook. Now also add to this 1/2 a cup of sugar,1 pkt of yeast,1 teaspoon of salt,10 Tablespoons of melted butter,3/4 of a teaspoon of nutmeg and cinnamon,4 eggs (beaten) now with the mixer on slow add 5 cups of plain flour (one cup at a time)let this mix on slow for a bout 4 mins. now add 1 cup of currants and mix just untill all is combind. Turn dough out on to a floured surface, knead briefly, shape into one large ball, let rise untill double in size (about 1-2 hours)now roll into balls and put on a baking tray to rise one more time.heat the oven to 375 and bake for 15-20 mins, while they are baking makeup the glaze by melting 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk in a pan.as soon as you take them out brush them with the sugar/milk mixture.now I made my own crosses by mixing confectioners sugar, lemon juice, milk to pipe over the buns.
