Just laid 114 people off and 2 are on hunger strike.
It appears that after the Asian markets collapsed America became their biggest market, and well, lets just say business ain't too clever right now.

The UK's Diageo, the world's largest wine beer and spirits business, on Friday announced it had agreed with French-owned Pernod Ricard to mount a joint bid for Seagram's spirits arm, owner of brands such as Captain Morgan rum, Chivas Regal whisky and Martell cognac.

There is a number of reason why Martell is having a problem proberly the same reason alot of other countries are having problems; any glich is the global market will cause problems and nothing like a war to mess up business.

Spring break have been cancelled, so all those people employed in the tourist industry in the caribbean must be laid off, I know the effect in Jamaica is really bad. Not to mention the airline industry is feeling it right now.

Martell's problem is due to large multiple national corporation buying the business and dont see why they should keep 114 people, as well as sales are down world wide. Compared to thousands who lost their jobs in the USA and around the world, 114 people not alot.
