I would really appreciate any advice, as myself and my wife are also looking into the implications of moving to the USA (possibly Florida). We both need better weather for health reasons… the only real hiccup I can think of is that she is still not a British citizen (Russian), as we are still waiting for the paperwork, which may be a year or more!

Basically, I would like someone to tell me if we have a chance of relocating/emigrating given our circumstances, ie. the above coupled with the usual other hurdles etc. Also, how much money does one need to ‘relocate’ comfortably?

At present I am self employed, and earn quite a reasonable wage as an Electrical Engineer, and my wife is a trainee Accountant/Accounts assistant. It’s not like we have a difficult time here (UK), but mostly we want a warmer climate, and English as the spoken language. So… is it so impossible?

It seems so hard to get definitive advice without resorting to paying extortionate fee’s to so-called Visa advisors.

Appreciate any input you guys (and gals) may have… also looking to make ‘friends’ in FL too.

I this this should possibly be relocated to the visa forum,

but in answer to the Russian thing, a colleague of my other half's is Iranian and his wife is Russian and she was still waiting for her British citizenship when they relocated from England to here. They're currently on L1/L2 visas as it was a corporate relocation, but there didn't seem to be any nationality problem.
Hi Kevin,
I don't know anything about the visa situation or how much money you might need to relocate, but I live in South West Florida. I thought you might like to know that there is a large Ukrainian population in North Port. House prices are very reasonable here too.
