Here's the thing, I have been here for 2 years and have received my conditional permanent residency. It just so happens my better half has received a job offer back home in England. I am quite sure that I can get a job back home as well and we have a 11 year old daughter who is also a US citizen to take with us. Apart from the usual "prove you know each other, prove you are married" stuff, is there anything else we have to do seeing as I am a British citizen and we will not be borrowing from the government anytime soon ?????
Dave,
Not too sure on the UK side though as you said if she is married to you and you have a Genuine marriage (which I am sure you do!) you should have no problem with her coming to work in the UK, you might want to go to the American Expats site (
http://www.americanexpats.co.uk) to ask there.
Then only thing you DO need to worry about is your Green card, if you leave the U.S. for more than a Year the INS considers you to have "abandoned" your Permanent Residency, and you have to apply all over again!! Just bear that in mind, as I dont know if "popping back for a week" once a year would keep it alive.

Dave,
Getting a visa for you wife is very easy - a short interview (after a long wait and you have paid the fee)at the consulate. Prepare the forms and backup information before you go. Make sure that you give them copies of the original documents that you require to be returned, eg Birth and marriage certificates. You also need to prove that you have a residence in the UK. In my case a letter from my Parents agreeing to allow us to live with them was sufficient.
After 12 months in the UK the restrictions are removed from the visa provided that she doesn't leave for a period longer than 2 years.
This will happen to my wife sad
