I got my card in the mail yesterday. Very flash arent they? Anyhoo, I was wondering if anyone knew what exactly is on the back of these things. It has such a huge magnetic strip it makes me wonder at the info they have about me.
Yeah, those cards are nice. There's about 21 different holograms on it too, and I'm curious about that big old slab of liquid crystal on the back too... ???
Im still waiting for my new one to get here, my extension on my current card expires in June so I'm hoping it gets here soon.

I would imagine on that strip would be at a minimum your address and your SS#
I've been waiting for mine for 3 years. Maybe its just the Atlanta office thats slow but I've had to travel up in person to get additional extensions.

eek thats a long time to be waiting for a replacement card!

Now we're living in Maine, the INS office is only a 35 minute drive. smile
When we lived in NH just 23 miles away from here, it would have meant a 1 hour 45 minute drive to Boston or more likely a 3 hour+ drive to Vermont. I think they transfered a lot to there over the years.
I have a four hour drive to Atlanta from here and because of the Atlanta traffic, I've been shelling out $200 a pop to stay there overnight instead of driving directly in

I think we were selected 'randomly' for an interview but they have yet to arrange one. We've been married for six years so it hardly looks like we got married just to get the Green card if they're thinking that... :???:

The first thing I noticed about my green card when I received it last June was that it isn't green! And it makes no reference at all on the front to the USA. Only on the back, where the heading is "US Dept of Justice". The black stripe has all your personal details. When I went back to England last summer, returning to the USA after 3 weeks, the INS officer at Orlando Airport swiped my green card through a reader, stamped my passport, said "Welcome back" and that was it!

Thanks for reminding me to take the Green Card when I go 'home' next month. Going to put it in my wallet right now.
