In fact it's very unethical indeed.

This is a purely hypothetical situation, okay? Let's say for example, that I need to have a butler to make my life much easier. Now the only person who appears to be a suitable candidate is living in England. How does one employ said candidate?

Or is this a totally unethical thread?
I'm pretty sure you have to prove they are the only person who can do the job.

I think you also have to be a very big company with a proven track record regarding importing employees, but I reckon you'd fall down on the proof thing alone.

However, I'm no expert.
I used to know a woman (English) who's American friend owned a restaurant in Oregon. They advertised a job for Restaurant Manager. In the ad, they said the hours were 80+ per week (over 7 days), for minimum wage (around $4 an hour at the time), no health benefits, 3 days unpaid vacation a year. The English woman was, naturally, the only applicant for the job. She got the job, they sponsored her through immigration, got her Green Card then gave her a huge raise, reduced the hours, added benefits & vacation package.
YMMV, but the unethical does succeed sometimes!

How do you explain Jeffrey the Butler on Fresh Prince then huh?

Well, that makes sense. Does anyone have any experience of the same thing but from the UK perspective - ie an Amurrican going to England?
I imagine that if you hired a trained butler from an academy or guild, they'd somehow not be covered by the stringent immigration laws as they are part of your household.

However, if this was some ruse to simply get them into the country, I think it would fail.

Is this person under 26? If so, you could employ them as an au pair, which I think uses a J-visa.
