Forgive me for repeating this type of a post, but I thought it might get more exposure in this section
Does anyone know if Melton Mowbray or any other (vastly more inferior) brands of pork pies are available anywhere in Canada (or the USA for that matter)? Marks and Spencers used to carry them here in Calgary but then they got all 'mardy' (upset) with Canada and went off 'ome again (took their ball an' all).
I bought 14 pies when they closed shop but they only lasted two minutes (well not literally). I once tried to bring a great big pork pie in from the UK but customs took it off of me. The next time I brought over tiny ones and didn't tell them. I hate North American Customs but that's another story...
On an unrelated matter. I just thought that I would graciously make every one feel bad by telling you that we can get first class fish & chips (and mushy peas) in Alberta (and SE British Columbia) from a franchise called "Joey's Only." We usually get cod, but I treated myself to some haddock last week and almost wept into my Big Rock (English style) Traditional Ale. Ah, but now I'm bragging...
Tim (he was a lonely child and his big sister used to torture him)
