as in what's the similarity/difference between that and Atora etc?
Not that I'm planning on using it, but was stumped when asked as I served up Spotted Dick and custard to my American friends today.
Bird suet is like one of those lard balls on a string that you make in infant school to put to feed the hungry birds in the winter.

thanks, yes, I've seen it (but never made it), so am still a little confused. Wasn't that stuff melted bacon fat and lard with seeds and breadcrumbs in? If so, do Americans consider the whole lot to be "bird suet"? No wonder they were worried
Here, they seem to coat pinecones in peanut butter (or soynut now they've finally decided to deal with peanut allergy), then dip it in birdseed. They should really call it a squirrel feeder, though.
I wonder if this'll be the first thread to be moved out of the "food and anything else that can be combined to make a world record breaking forum title forum"?
I think suet can refer to just the fat or to the whole bird feeder. I think usually the whole thing, although technically that's not correct. I can understand why your friends might have been a bit hesitant.
Surely this should be in the 'Nature" Forum razz
...but I'm dressed this evening!
we're so happy.
it's the same fat as in cooking suet...
Fancy feeding your friends bird food monster. Can't you run up a double chocolate toffee fudge marshmallow cake with frosty sprinkes in your spare time? evil

So no posting in the "Au Naturel" forum then?
