Hi,
I would like to start the process of applying for a Green Card. I have been in the US for 2 years, firstly on an L1 and now an H1B. My company will do the paperwork etc, but not pay the lawyer fees.
Can anyone recommend a good immigration lawyer.
Thank you.
Kate
Does he have to be in New York? As I can recommend a good one, but he is in New Jersey.
Our lawyer was in New Jersey as well. http//www.fragomen.com . I immigrated in New York and reside in Ohio - I don't think it matters which state the lawyer is practicing in as immigration is all federal law.
Ours is in NYC, Kate. I will get the details if you want one in the City. she has been fine so far and is in the process of doing our greencard. smile
The lawyer that I used is
Mr. William McAlvannah
790 Bloomfield Avenue
Clifton, NJ
973 773-4748
Also, he was voted in one New Jersey Monthly Magazine as one in ten best immigration lawyers in NJ, a couple of years ago.
Pete's employers also use Fragomen as well. We've just signed papers to renew our L1 & L2 visas. He says that after speaking with clients who are expats, it seems that all the big companies (certainly in Manhatten) use Fragomen too.

I would expect their fees would be high since they mostly deal with companies that pick up the tab. sad
Yes, Fragomen for us too.
Thank you all very much.
Ben - I would be grateful if you could give me your lawyer's details.

She used to work for a larger firm but decided to go into practise on her own (I think) so she could be more specialised in her work.

Thank you Ben.
