Hi again

When I take up residency, what do you think are the most important things I should do first?

I know about Social secuirty and DMV and that kind of stuff, and I have heard it is wise to get health insurance straight away, but can anyone else give me any advice?

I won't be working straight away, and I won't have my own place when I first come over.

Cheers guys, you are the source of all knowledge !

Gary
I say, straight after leaving that office with your social security number, get medical insurance. (if you have money obviously) Getting injured here without any isnt fun. I had to have my appendix taken out and guess what, no medical insurance at the time. The fee ended up being around $18,000 so get some without fail. Under what conditions are you here? Give some information and Ameriscot will tell you the ins and outs of everything you need to do.
gnearn, just read your other post regarding only coming out here for a short time to activate your visa.

If this is the case, and you have a return ticket to the UK, you should be able to get travel insurance in the UK to cover this trip. smile surely it should be no different to anyone else doing a business trip for a short time, who come over on a visa waiver (as far as the insurance company is concerned anyway).
