I need to remove the conditional status (married to a US citizen) from my green card.

I know I have a form to fill in and file but had a couple of specific questions for those who know the process the answers to these would be great!

1. Once I've filed how long does the process take
2. Do I need to go back to the INS for an interview?

Also what should you include as "any other proof" of your relationship other than a copy of our lease and joint savings accounts which they ask for?
The time it takes to process the removal of conditions is dependent on your local INS office. You can check out their procedures on the field office section of http//www.ins.gov .

Yes, there will be an interview. You need to take everything they ask for, and anything you can think of that will prove you have a valid marriage. Co-mingling of finances is considered very important, so any financial document in both your names will be very helpful.

Hi there,

there isn't usually an interview unless you don't send enough proof, or I heard that they randomly select people. I removed conditions last September and no interview. I sent tonnes of paperwork in and eventually got the letter to say conditions removed. Then you just got to INS office with your letter and they fingerprint you AGAIN! It's not a big deal. Check out the http://www.k1-visa faq.com for lots of info on this process.

Thanks Mel

Do you remeber how long it took for them to send your letter?

Also do you mind me asking what you sent as proof.
I have a friend who took all their stuff to the INS office, and the guy in front of them said, ok...here you go. That was it.
