Why on earth are football fans so fickle? Particularly us English fans with regards our national side?

Being a Liverpool fan and loyal England supporter it amazes me the fickle nature of alot of English footy supporters regarding their teams, and especially regards England. For example after Liverpool's champions league exit some supporters are calling for Houllier's head, despite the Reds being top and 2 games clear in the Premier League. And the amazing ability for England fans to demand 7-0 victories against every opposition is beyond belief. Why do we expect to win the World Cup, but resent success?

Id like to know how do non English fans see us too.

Well I don't think its unreasonable to expect to beat Macedonia at home.
