Anyone know anything about dual nationality in Belgium? Read on another forum that Belgium does not accept dual nationality with the brits. From next year I'll be a fully fledged belgium citizen it's worrying me maybe I'm being greedy but I did want to belong to the uk too!
Whatever happens on the Belgiun side, you won't accidentally lose your British citizenship.
Hi Jiska and welcome to Britnet!
Hey no worries - unless you elect to go to a British Consular official and renounce your British citizenship, you won't forfeit it razz
This is the UK Govt. official line on Dual Nationality (although I took this info from the Britain-USA Embassy website, it is still the same information throughout the world ie. where it says US substitute Belgium to all intents and purposes)

So I think you can safely assume that you will remain a Brit for the rest of your life! lol
Where are you living in Belgium - I assume that you've married a Belgian national? (I think one poster here, Nicky-nak lived there for a while). I do know of expats who have lived there - in Brussels - and love it there. I've also heard that the British school is excellent there. I know it's a popular posting for Brits as it is so close to England and easy to get over on the trains and ferries - and to take in a car load of cheap booze to your Brit friends and relatives.
I envy your access to those lovely Belgium chocolates and beer..! lol
Thanxs for the info. I'm living with a belgium national we haven't married yet.We live on the border of antwer, limburg region of the country and seems brits are scarce where I am. The british school was too far away for my 11yr old daughter to attend so we got her into a european school a few miles away .Never again took her out after a year she now attends a flemish school and speaks the lingo brilliantly. Belgium chocolates ok but I sure do miss cadburys LOL. Luckily we discovered a british store near brussels whiwh we travel to ever few weeks and stock up.
