Hi All,

My question is rather simple. I'm a rather border-line H-1B applicant. What are my changes of getting an approval from an evaluation agency given that I have the following

Education

1995-1996 First year of a joint Computer Science and Mathematics degree
1996-1998 University Diploma in Software Engineering

4 Years work experience of running my own web hosting company that included significant elements of what would be taught on a final year of a US based Software Engineering bachelors degree ( i.e. things like Distributed Computing, Human Computer Interaction, Network Security, High Integrity Systems ). I have documentary proof of having over 120 customers ( I had over 500 but had to destory much of the data becuase of the Data Proection Act rules here in the UK ).

I, ofcourse, do have the firm jon offer ( I have a copy of an approved LCA from the DoL ) and have all the documents necessary to file with form I-129. I just need to know if I have a good chance of getting an approval from an evaluation agency with my combination of education + work experience.

Regards, Mark
Hi Mark.
I got here on an H1B visa despite not having a batchelors degree (or being a model of international repute).
I had to provide conformation of every Job I'd ever had to show a number of years work experience indicating a rise in responsibility/experience with each job.
I did have an HND in electrical engineering but what they wanted to see was about 3 years work experience for every 1 year of a batchelors degree, so about 12 years work experience.
This is whatI found.
Don't let it put you off as it depends on how your Immigration lawyers decide to present your case.
Failling this you can always become a world famous fashion model.
Good luck. grin
Yep have to agree with Buffers.... my HNC and 13 years experience in the IT industry got me in ok. Don't recall having to get any references for the H1-B though. But had to make my resume match the job description (keywords) and show increasing responsibilities/expertise.

Have to agree, I have a BSc but I still didn't like their wording. Another one of my team came here at the same time and he has an HND, no problem what so ever for him either. Just fire in the forms and see what happens, they can't say yes if you don't ask.
