Made this last night for the Guy Fawkes party we're going to on Saturday. It's really easy and yummy too!

Treacle Toffee

1lb Dark Brown Sugar
4oz Butter
4 Tablespoons Black Treacle (Molasses)
4 Tablespoons Milk
2 Tablespoons Water

Melt butter in a large, heavy bottomed pan. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir over heat until the sugar has melted. Once the sugar has dissolved, DO NOT STIR AGAIN.
Boil over a low heat 30-40 minutes, testing for a set in a cup of cold water after 30 minutes. The toffee should become quite hard immediately, but not brittle.
Pour into greased cookie tin and allow to set. Mark into squares before completely cold.

Yum! This sounds great! Thanks for posting the recipe. My Brit hubby and I just returned from two weeks in England and I have been closely guarding our supply of Thornton's treacle toffee. Now I can make my own!
