Hi folks,
I'm in the Bay Area of California. I submitted the AOS paperwork in August and got the receipts dated 23rd. On Spetember 22nd I got my fingerprint date for October 17th. On September 23rd I got my AP. On October 22nd the INS web site said they had received my finger print results and processing is continuing.
So, how long from good fingerprints to the green card?
The suspense is killing me, it's like waiting to be shot in the back as you walk out of prison.
Um... well it all depends on who you are, where you are and why you are. Or something. grin Not very helpful, I know, but I would just sit back, have a pint or two and let it happen if I were you.
We had our fingerprints done this summer and the lawyer expects our greencards in spring, but I'm not holding my breath. We're on the opposite corner of the country from you and both Brits on L1 and L2s.
Welcome to the board.
Ours took about 10 mths from medical to the stamp going into the passport. My husbands company had stopped processing green cards in the last few months.
And as monster said it does depend on who, what where when!
Welcome to the board. I'm in the Bay Area too. Where abouts are you?
Enjoy
Ju

10 months ???
Oh well, as Bob my 82 year old fighter pilot friend said "it isn't like it's forever you know".
Ho hum, glad they applied for the EAD too.
I'm in Alameda on an H1B. If the worst comes to the worst I'll go to Canada or NZ. I have lost my tolerance for the day to day issues in the UK. I’ll be home for Christmas in Newcastle for two weeks and that will be enough, I find the speed cameras and $80 to fill up make me feel trapped.
Then again Bedford, where I lived, and Newcastle, where I came from, haven’t had 94 murders this year. Oakland has. Fortunately for me the Oakland folks don’t seem to like visiting Alameda, we have a high police presence and relatively little crime. Bedford had more violent crime than Alameda does and they are roughly the same size.
From fingerprints to Greencard for me was about four weeks.
That was at Portland, Oregon so maybe it is better over this side as we spread out a bit more or something wink
Ah, the stuff that dreams are made of. If only. That would be just a few weeks.
All the I-485 stages so far have been much faster than expected for me, I just hope it stays that way.
Were you done by the California or Nebraska service center?
I'll be buying a keg of Green King Abbot and getting my friends drunk when it happens.
OK, that's a very good example of why I am asking. Nebraska splits the I-485 into four classes
Asylum-based 9/30/98
Refugee-based 3/5/01
Employment-based 4/1/01
Haitian Refugee 12/18/99
California only gives one date
I-485 "Ready to Adjudicate" 09/01/01
So all the Nebraska processing times should be longer than the California times and yet Pilgrim's took 4 weeks after finger prints. I suspect their lead times are all incorrect, I think my receipt said 999 days.
Anyway, time will tell.
Thanks everyone, I'll let you know what happens.
