Here's a suggestion Have not consulted hubby yet, but will see if there are any takers first. I have a book called "Joe Carpenter and Son An English Nativity". It is the Christmas story as performed in a play by English villagers. It is by Graham Clarke and is quite amusing. Not very religious - just very English. I have long wanted to get a group together to read it out (like a radio play) with appropriate accents, but have not been able to bring myself to ask Americans to do it! English cultural humour.

IF any of you in the New England area are interested in getting together at our house (or someone else's bigger house) sometime around the Festive Season to act out this story and have a jolly evening of wassailling and carol-singing, let me know and we can try to fix something up.

It can be sometime in December I should think, and I can send the script to the 'actors' who want to play a part so you can practice before we get together.

Any takers?

I think it sounds like great fun, I would really love to come but not sure if it will be possible because of work but I will keep checking this thread to see what date is picked etc. and will try my best to arrange to come.

This is just the sort of thing that I miss from Christmas in the UK, thanks for thinking of it Kentgirl! smile

I think it's a lovely idea KG. I'd be coming without family though. Haven't made firm plans for either of those Saturdays...keep us posted!

KG great idea .. If you need a house and basement to hold the event ..then let me know its fine with me and my wife.. also we have 3 spare bedrooms if anybody wants to stay over..

Ps my wife who is also a drama teacher will participate ..ps I have a fog machine and have been dying to try iy out ok..
