Thanks everyone for the info on immigration at Newark and SS#.
I have passed through Newark once before and immigration was fairly quick, but we were the only international flight that came in at that time. My main concern was having to purchase another flight should there be a delay.
Incidentally the 90 minute hold up was in Miami although the French were responsible for most of it. Those in my line had either messed up the I-94 or not even filled it in at all!. So I guess I will be worried if I see Air France at the next gate!!.
Particular thanks to Kentgirl, the Newcomers site was very useful.
I believe that my passport will be given a stamp which counts as a temporary green card valid for one year while I wait on the card itself. It was only that I was unsure whether I can even apply for a job without an SS#.
Anyway thanks again for the info, at least now I can look forward to a life with Jucal without having to look to yet another airport goodbye.
