Some interesting results tonight for the home countries.

Mark Hughes will be overtaking Saint David in the Welsh popularity stakes at this rate. I always thought him a bit too moody to be much of a leader but I'm glad to be proven wrong.

Probably a bit soon for England to give up on automatic qualification but I imagine the doom and gloom merchants will be making their voices known tomorrow.
Unbeaten in 13 months? Dear me, against the likes of Germany, Argentina and Italy too. Wow! Let's be glad England didn't draw them.

How come whenever England gets a new manager they begin to look creative, imaginative and like a World force but after the honeymoon period they always drop back into boring and predictable mode?
Oh come on!!
Its not a disaster yet, and in any case there was no ferdinand to help shore up central defence, and Gerrard was stretchered off yet again.
Two games played and four points on the board is pretty good for us, especially compared to our start in the world cup qualifiers.
Didn't say we wouldn't qualify. I'm sure we will. I was the guy that said we will qualify for WC02 after we lost to Germany and tied Finland when everybody else said we should concentrate on 2006.

But I can't work out the problems we are having given the talent pool we have. England should be able to play electrifying football that is the envy of the rest of the World but from all accounts we're just lumping it up the field.
England lumped it up the field against Brazil.

It was quite embarrasing, especially given that up until then, the team had played some decent football.

It was a return to the old "hit and hope" that you can see any Saturday in the lower divisions and was unworthy of the world stage.

I had quite a time trying to explain that performance to my European pals.
Peter Reid for England ... !

Even more now considering Gerrard being injured!!

England are doing fine, and Im impressed by Wales. I'm always astounded as to how frightened England look whoever they play. The players never seem to have the confidence to do what they do in their club matches. And as a Liverpool fan I plead with Sven..drop Heskey..it isnt working!
Did you see Wales won again the other night and are now 5 points clear at the top of Group 9?

I'd love to see Giggs and Hartson play in Euro 2004 so keep it up Wales!

When's England's next qualifying match?
Not till end of March against Liechtenstein. Next game is a friendly against the Aussies in the February.

Well lets hope the press dont screw up that match. I think the tabloids will call the Lichtenstein game a do or die match for Sven. So if he doesnt come home with a 5-0 win they will be all over him. Buggers.
