We want to move to Samos in the Greek Islands.we want to talk to anyone who has moved to Greece to understand what was involved and the how, when and where's of getting there. Where do we start. Can anyone help us please eek ???
I lived in Glyfada, just outside of Athens for a year back in '90 - '91.
It all depends on a lot of things
1. Do you know anyone/have any contacts - friends or family where you want to move to?
2. Do you have any emplyment prospects out there?
3. Do you have any idea where you will live?
4. Do you know any Greek?
5. Are you planning on moving to Greece long term?
I'm sure if you go to your local Job Centre there will be information on working in Greece. You can work there legally I think because it is a European country. You don't need a visa and you are entitled to health care while you are out there.
I lived there for a while and have friends who moved there and bought a house.
How familiar are you with Greece? I can assure you that living there is not the idyll that people expect...
If you have kids they may not take too well to the Greek school system.
Give us more to work with here!

Above messages give sound considerations about this topic. I was in Samos this year but have never lived there full time. Here are a couple of websites you might find helpful.
One is a recent MA dissertation which covers a lot of legal aspects about living in Greece
and Greek Immigration policies just in case you want the whole picture and another one that is very good IMHO See tp//www.livinginthesun.com/src/greece/greece.htm

Do you speak Greek already? If not, I would start taking lessons straight away. It's one thing "getting by" when you're there for a short time, but quite another when it's a permanent thing. Good Luck!
Re the livingingreece site. Try this
add on for this site http//www.livinginthesun.com/src/greece/useful.htm. The link referred to in above message
isn't working.
