Sometime ago I was watching the food network and a guest chef was making a white sauce. He added vanilla saying it improved the flavour.
I can't remember the name of the programme but tonight I tried that idea. It does taste rather good! I just added a little.

I know it's not a recipe or even British, but I thought some of you might like to try it and I thought this was the best place to post it. smile
try making your own vanilla..

soak the vanilla in vodka for 15-30 days..

will make it even better....
I sometimes put a drop of vanilla in risotto. It's not too bad.
