Well then,
it seems that i have upset and offended many people in such a short time (almost a record for even myself) Firstly i thank those who replied to my initial post, your advice was wonderful (but may have had the wrong effect) as there is NO chance of me leaving now. I truly and sincerly am a really pleasant man, who just wants to live with my girlfriend in the wide open sunny lands of Texas for the rest of my life. I WANT to be legal, I WANT to pay tax, but as ALL of you know it is a very difficult catch 22 situation. I don't have the money to afford the wonderful wedding my girl deserves, so to get the money i have to work illegally to make the money to become legal. Once again, sorry if i offended anybody. So, i'm staying at for a least the next 6 months i will be on the ultra down low from the I.N.S.
Can my girl file for marriage petition for us (next year) with me still here (i DID enter here Legally in the first place.
As for the person who said that if they had my address they would shop to the big boys, my friend i'm sory you feel that way, but a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
Once again, los siento.
Rob

Although your sentiments may be admirable, you are hardly in a position to make a choice. If she truly loves you then she'll be happy to marry in a thrifty fashion. You could then have the "frills" when you have saved some money (LEGALLY!)
so to get the money i have to work illegally to make the money to become legal.
That still doesn't make it right.
You are running a huge risk here. AND giving the UK a bad name.
We are all well aware that illegal immigration goes on. You don't have to do it because "everyone else does". Most people stop that way of thinking in primary school.
It's a pity you didn't think sensibly about your legal issues while you were busy with your romantic ones.

Just as an aside my fiend, if some Bastard from the INS was to happen upon this thread he could force Nigel to hand over your IP and from that info. would be knocking on your door pretty soon.
I am known to be a little paranoid about such matters but if I was you I would delete all your posts, delete yourself from the database, re-register under a different name and not talk about such things again in the future.
Just my $0.02

And a law-abiding US citizen has to do what she has to do too.
Richie, I can just see you sweeping your hotel rooms for bugs like James Bond lol
BCousin, you should have applied for a K (fiancee) visa when you met your girlfriend. Would have given you 3 (legal) months to make up your mind about marriage. She also could have come to the UK for quite some time without problems.
However, a colleague of mine is getting married on Saturday to his German girlfriend who has been here illegally for 4 years. She realised that she could no longer leave the country to see her family and so they decided to get married. They got their marriage licence without a problem. However, I believe that even once they are married she could be at risk of deportation for a period of time. I know someone else who did the same thing and his wife was forced to remain in the US for 5 years before her paperwork was processed.
Welcome to the board and I hope you find a solution to your problem.
Stel.

It wouldn't take me long to find your address from your IP so imagine how easy the INS would find it.
BTW hoe did you know about the Bug Sweeping thing?
LOL
Richie
Rob, I do wish you luck.
And I hope that sorry was aimed at me too grin
It's good to be able to talk to other brits about life over here, but I wouldn't mention the illegal bit, if I was you. Richie might just have a point.
And welcome to Britnet, by the way. You may enjoy joining in on the chats we have going. smile

I know how it must feel. My wife and I have been living here in the US since January and I'm still unable to work. We signed for my work visa in January and I am still waiting over 6 months on!. My wife is the only one able to work and on top of rent, phone bill, her student loan, food etc we are barley able to survive. None of the inlaws understand! they think I should just work illegally. I can't even drive untill I get my work visa as I don't have a liscence from the UK, so I have to take a test here and I can't untill my visa goes through. So for 6 months I have been stuck in a house. Its a small town and theres no real bus serivce so I can get around at all. It has been the worst 6 months of my life so far. I have had opportunites to work illegally and SOO BADLY have wanted to, especially when we havent had money to put food on the table. For a guy I feel horrible. My poor wife working all the hours God sends to beable to keep us afloat. On top of it being homesick doesnt help, coming from Newcastle to a small HICK Town in the middle of no-where, no other Brits, nothing to do, nothing here hardly. Now my grans died and her funreal is next week and I LOVED my Gran and wanted to go to the funeral next week but if I go I will lose all the 6 months waiting time, the $645 we have paid for my visa so far. I hate the INS for that. Its so unfair......
hmm think I might put this one up on the board!
Midgeure, at least you have a clear conscience, though.
Hang in there. I'm sorry it's so tough on you, but it will be worth it. You obviously love your wife very dearly.
