My green card arrived this afternoon. Yippee. Funny thing was, a friend (also in the same town) had an appointment letter copme in the mail this afternoon too for his ins appointment which led us to wonder if they deal with cases alphabetically. smile

Well done you! That must be such a relief!

Thanks Debs,
It is such a relief - even more of a shocker when I saw my photograph. It must of been one that I first handed in three years ago as my hair was short lol

Zed, that is great news. And it has come before you moved house too. smile

I know, it arrived just in time. I hear apparently from a lady at the INS that they are shipping them out pretty quickly.
How is your progress coming along?
Zed
ZED,
My card has the sentence
'Always carry your card in the US and show it when you re-enter the US'
Does this mean
a) all the time
b) only when travelling
What about my kids cards. Should they carry thiers too.
I've searched their website, but have found nothing.

Congrats Zed but why don't they call it a Cream card ..and how much info do you think they hold on that large metalic strip on the back ..
PS don't forget its only valid for 2 years ..
Antbax is back . . . .
My GC is valid for 10 years . . . . . smile
I thought the GreenCard was effectivley a permanant thing - is this 2 (or 10) year thing just a matter of getting a new card ... just so the INS et all can keep an eye on you ?

If you have a 2-year green card, it's you permenent resident status that expires. If you have a 10-year card, then it's just the card (basically photo) that expires.

erm ... forgive my ignorance here - whats the difference between 'permanent resident' and a 2 year 'permanent resident' - My attorneys have applied on my behalf for Adjustment of Status from L1A to permanent resident (I-485) - how can i tell if this is for 2 years only or permanent ?
