hi I'm still trying to get to grips with the site but first impression looks fantastic.
I'm trying to get date time and location of the Jubilee bash .. I'm originally from Milton Keynes and London and have juste celebrated my 1st wedding anniversary with my American wife (also called Deborah) our anniversary was yesterday 7/20/02 ..lol i got the month and day around the correct way lol. nyway if anybody can let me have the details ..great... eek
Good Morning, Anthony and welcome to this great place. Hope you plan to stay.
I'm going to the bash too. It is next Sunday, 28th July, at 12noon. Deb will log on today to send you a private message to give you the address.
I hope you don't mind that I don't give it to you but it isn't my house! grin
How long have you been in the US? Congrats on the 1st year of marriage. Is the 1st one paper?
You have to realise that when you join this site you have to give us ALL the details straight off, otherwise, Nicky, Lisa and Deb start asking the 20 questions about your life. lol Me too, of course.

I'll email you the address and directions for the bash - hope you can make it, don't worry about turning up late. smile

Antbax!
Please bring your teenagers to the bash! smile I have a moody 13 (nearly 14) year old son and he is complaining that there won't be anyone his age there.... roll
My 18 year old daughter will be coming too (she's hoping that in the company of Brits it will be ok for her to have a drink or two... lol ). She is bitterly complaining about the drinking age in America being 21 when she's been going out down the pub with her teachers!
PS. Antbax...
Welcome to the Britnet boards...hope you will become a regular! smile

Hi Anthony,
I got your PM thanks, did you get my email with address/directions? I'll send again if not.
Yes, I remember you from the shop!! So glad you've found BritNet!
See you at the bash smile
Dawn, don't forget my son is just about 12. I know it isn't 13 but he's nearly there grin
antbox, great that you will be coming. I'm sure a lot of us will still be there at that time. We are coming from Long Island and staying in a hotel nearby. We won't be rushing off anywhere. smile As long as Deb can put up with us that long of course grin
Hi Everyone!
Thought I had better post on this thread as the other one is well out of control and I'm scared of Nigel and Maczippy even if you lot aren't lol
Anthony, I have just emailed you again and sent a copy by pm too so hopefully one way or another you should get the destructions!
I'll post again tomorrow as I think there are rather a lot of questions re what to bring etc but I've got to get to bed now before I fall asleep at the keyboard.
I've just been blubbing my eyes out as I got home to find a DVD had arrived from friends back home. It was a compilation of my friends on their ponies and with their kiddly winks and it was just too much to bear I miss them all terribly cry cry
Soooo glad I've got Sunday to look forward to. Can't wait to meet you all and see again the BritNet buddies I have already met smile
Deb, sleep well.
I haven't received our directions by snail mail yet? Have you sent them out? smile
Good Morning Everyone!
I have been reading the old thread and think I have noted all the questions, let me know if I missed anything out! This will be a bit of a jumbled up mess but here goes.
Kentgirl - Tell hubby yes he will be in the minority! There will be a few Americans there but for once they will be out numbered by the Brits.
Great work on the Quiz, you can email them to me if you would like and I will print them out.
Not sure what is the best way to do the quiz, Lisa and Jim are the experts at this sort of thing! I think perhaps read aloud?
Ben & Kentgirl, If you have any room for a few toys sounds like a good idea as I don't have much here to keep the munchkins occupied.
If anyone has any good garden games and has the room for them in the car that would be great.
Kentgirl, liked the sound of that Cabaret Act talk about a star studded line up lol
Nicky-nac, Thanks very much for suggesting the chairs, we counted up and we have got about 26 garden chairs and various dinning chairs we can use.
If a few of you guys have room to bring a couple of chairs with you that would be great but if not maybe a picnic blanket or two might be good.
Antbax, On the same subject thanks very much for your very kind offer of chairs etc. We have got two 10 x 10 shade tents but if you wouldn't mind bringing yours over on Saturday afternoon that would be fantastic. Also garden chairs and table would be great. I'm at work all day Saturday but Simon will be in and out all day getting last minute things done.
Everyone, Thanks so much for offers of plates, cutlery etc. I have got disposable plates, cups, napkins and tablecloths so think I'm okay on that front.
Dawn & Ben, If you have room to bring some condiments, ketchup, etc., that would be great, Thank you.
Antbax, not sure if we have any room for cricket, our garden is a little how shall I put it "natural" and the only flat cleared bit is where we are going to put the tents! Perhaps you could bring the bat and croquet set and we'll see if we can find a suitable patch! Thanks very much for the offer.
Debsowerby, I've got you down as bringing the name labels - thanks very much.
Dawn, Soccer ball, again lack of cleared garden space could be a problem and I would be terrified that TWD would get hold of it and puncture it, she is obsessed with them!!
Antbax, sorry you can't make it earlier but please feel free to arrive when you can, I can't guarantee who will still be here!
Ben, Invites have finally gone out yesterday! See if you can spot the "deliberate" error! I have sent snail mail invites to Dawn, Ben, Dennis, Moi and Kentgirl as those are the only addresses I have. Did I forget anyone who wanted one?
Ben, I didn't have time to do a map but the directions I emailed and mapquest should get you here okay.
Is there anyone who still needs directions? Just let me know and I will email/pm them.
FINISH TIME
With regard to finish time, to be honest I'm not sure how late this will run as most people have long journeys home and work the next day.
People are very welcome to stay as long as they want but with a 12.00pm start I'm thinking things will start to flag by early evening and food will run out. So don't worry Kentgirl I don't think you will miss much.
MUSIC
Great work guys! I think Lisa was also working on some music for the bash and also a musical round for the quiz - is that right Lisa?
I have just received a fun tape from home I think its called something like British Glory and has some good stuff on it like "I vow to thee my country" anyone got the words?
However, I have to let you know that our CD/tape player is pathetic to say the very least so this isn't going to be much of a rave!!
I will be setting everything up in the garden which I think will make a sad little CD player sound even more sad and wimpy - we'll just have to make up the volume ourselves!
FOOD
I have arranged the following
Potato salad
Pasta salad
Garden salad
Burgers
Hot dogs
Quiche
Crisps/chips
Soda
Juice for the kids
Ben - Bannoffe pie & condiments
Nicky-nac - Almond slices
Debsowerby - Butterfly cakes and scones
Dawn - condiments
Did I forget anyone?
So anyone who is able to bring something with them just bring whatever your favorite dish is savory or sweet, just post on the thread what your bringing so I can see what is missing.
ALCOHOL
Please bring your own bottle! I have left that completely up to you guys! Obviously goes without saying decide on who is doing the driving home and dish out the soda accordingly. Dawn, its entirely up to you with regard to your daughter, I have no problem with it at all.
GENERAL STUFF
Dawn mentioned mossie repellent, candles etc. I do have some citronella candles but again if anyone can throw a couple in the car that would be a great help. Same goes for mossie repellent and don't forget sunscreen cream too. (Bound to pour with rain now I've put that). Does anyone have a first aid kit they can throw in the car, I've only got a small selection of plasters and cream for bumps and scrapes.
FLAGS
If anyone else has a Union Jack they can bring that would be great. I have some bunting courtesy of Debsowerby but so far the stuff I ordered hasn't arrived!! Might have to pad it out with some red, white and blue.
OFFICIAL APOLOGY
I must just apologize in advance for our humble abode!! It is a work in progress and both the house and garden are in need of some TLC so you will have to take us as you find us! Oh and we are not on mains sewage system so try to go easy on the loo roll!!
Have I covered all questions? I know I have forgotten stuff! Let me know if there is anything I have left out or if you think of anything else.
Deborah - you are a real gem to be doing all this. Thank you smile
I've drawn a blank on baking something british, so I'm going to go to Costco on Saturday and buy a couple of their huge desserts - one cheesecake and one of their pies. Hope that's ok.
I can pick up anything else you'd like while I'm there too.....just let me know!
It's going to be the party of the year on the east coast!!
