Five times Henman has tried, is this what
fortitude means?
I really feel sorry for him, I wonder what
it feels like, working all year for a dream,
then having it blown away in such a short
period of time, and knowing how dissapointed
all his fellow countrymen (and country
women, of course),are going to feel.

I agree, poor guy. It seems that in sports we British are always bridesmaids but never the bride.

Tim also has the hopes of a nation riding on every bat of his racket and that kind of pressure must have been unbearable.

Totally agree.

He seemed to really flunk it this time and then in the 3rd set he came back to really give it a go. Shame he couldn't have done that right at the beginning. I really thought he had a good chance this time.

A real shame and having it all ride on his shoulders.

I do wish him and his wife all the best with the new baby.
Just like our blasted Football team .
When it comes down to the wire just cant step up .

Leyton Hewitt is the top seeded mens single player and he had something in reserve , Henman didnt.
Well it is still better than about ten years ago when we had no hope whatsoever.

Respect to Tim because he must inspire youngsters who otherwise wouldn't bother.
I agree with Pilgrim.

Henman is now ranked number three in the world - no shame or embarrassment in that at all. Wimbledon is one of the toughest to win and semi finals in 4 of the last 5 years and and at least quarter finals in 6 of the last 9 apparently. I'd take that as my career stats anyday - not to mention earnings of about $20M plus during his career.
