Born in Devon and grew up in Bath. College at Hatfield Poly, now more grandly known as the University of Hertfordshire. Moved to the US in 1987, did a Ph.D in philosophy at the University of Oklahoma (with a year at Tulane in New Orleans). Taught as a graduate student in Oklahoma and was a "professor" (sounds fancy doesn't it? . . . it's not) in Arkansas, of all places. (Quick tip for your next holiday -- you can cross rural Arkansas off the list right now.) Decided to quit teaching and switch careers, so I did a law degree at Columbia University in Manhattan.
NYC was great fun, but the pace of working life is a nightmare so, since 1997, I've been practicing law in Los Angeles. (It's exactly like "LA Law", honest.) Married (since 1992 to Susan, who works in TV). No kids, two parrots. Live at the beach (couple miles south of Venice, for those in the know).
